Reiki is an ancient Japanese method of healing developed by sensei Mikao Usui discovered in 1922. The practitioner allows “Ki” or Universal energy to flow through their palms into the client. This energy helps reduce stress and promotes physical, mental, and emotional healing.

Everything has and is made of energy; therefore, Reiki is innately within everyone. Attunements just facilitate opening up someone’s energetic vessel to be able to activate it.  In a Reiki session, the energy drawn in by the recipient is done so through the practitioner’s hands. The energy will go where it is needed. It is beneficial to use Reiki with medical and psychological care for its ability to help surgical patients in their recovery time, to improve their mental health and moods, and to aid in healing illnesses and injuries. Many of these including bruises, headaches, respiratory problems, insomnia. skin issues, broken bones, aches, and so much more. Research in Hardvard Hospital indicated that Reiki improved patient sleep by 86% and reduced pain by 78%, nausea by 80% and anxiety by 94%.

There are several hospitals across the US offering reiki in operating rooms and intensive care units including New York University Medical, Johns Hopkins Hospital, Yale-New Haven Hospital, The University of Maryland Medical Center, The Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in Englewood, New Jersey and etc.

If you would be interested in diving into more research, have conducted Our Research – CRR ( randomized controlled trials to practice-based effectiveness trials.

With Reiki, you are able to cleanse the body’s chakras or energy centers. Chakras are like spinning discs or wheels that emit their own vibrational frequency corresponding to certain organ systems, emotions, immune functions, central nervous and endocrine systems, as well as the spine and meridians. Our balance is dependent on these energies flowing harmoniously. The lowest chakra vibrates at the lowest frequency relating to more grounded, earth, dense energies that align with our survival needs being met. The highest chakra vibrates at the highest frequency relating to the connection we have with spirit and our capacity of feeling unconditional love. The chakras also correspond to our aura. When a chakra is unbalanced, stagnant or the energy is very subtle it reflects on the challenges, unresolved trauma or negative and dense energies that we are holding on to. The free and balanced flow of healthy Reiki is able to clear and move energy to bring those centers back into balance.
